If you are reading these lines, it is because you want to create an online business…
You might even want your life to look like this:
You want to find the good idea and then the money comes in automatically, automatically, every month.
You are looking for the next technique that will make you a millionaire without moving a finger.
So you watch videos that teach you how to earn 100€/day by copying and pasting, e-commerce with dropshipping on Shopify or how to get rich online by answering a survey. You are doing market research, a business plan, you want to find an idea for your domain name, a host and you hope to build a website or open a store in your image.
I have bad news for you.
It doesn’t happen that way.
Yes, you can make (a lot of) money on the Internet. But no, this is not easy.
It is work. You will have to work.
The good news is that in this article I will show you where to start your online business.
See it as a map, a roadmap, a direction.
You won’t get rich from reading it, but at least you’ll know where to go.
Note: The concepts I’m going to talk about also adapt to a WordPress blog (or other CMS), Instagram account, Facebook page, website, YouTube channel, e-commerce store, or anything else. . You’ll quickly see that what matters is your audience.
It doesn’t matter where you build it.
1. Selling training online
Selling training online is the holy grail of the online entrepreneur. why ? Because :
- You are in control of the sale prices and terms of sale (we will see in the following ways that this is not always the case)
- Your margin is huge because it is a digital product that costs you almost nothing to produce
- The e-learning sector is growing rapidly. You have to put yourself in it, it’s the future!
how to do that ?
I thought it would be easier to tell you about it in the video. So you will find the whole process of creating a website and selling products in the video below!
However, creating and selling e-learning training is not perfect.
Indeed, it will take you time. You start by creating an interested (long) audience. And then you have to create the content (which is very long).
After that, salesman training sometimes has a bad reputation. They are often referred to as scammers and dream sellers. There are, yes, but most of them are honest and have real skill to pass them by.
Make sure you are one of them.
Finally, opening a website and creating a distance learning course costs money and requires some technical skills (at least more than the methods below). You will have to master some marketing tools to provide a professional experience to your students and connect your payment methods.
To guide you through this online marketing jungle and create an amazing website, I wrote an article summarizing the 13 tools I use in my own online training.
2. Use ads to make money on the web
Let’s move on to the best known way to make money on the web: advertising.
The most famous merchant on the web, sure, but not the most profitable ever. exactly the contrary.
Realize: you will get an average of 0.10 € for 1000 views. If you want to earn 1500 euros per month, you need… 15 million visitors per month. Just that.
Unless you have a site like Le Monde, you won’t get to it right away (if at all).
A little clarification: This business model is only valid when you can insert ads, so a priori only on your own websites, blogs and YouTube. In fact, you have no control over your Instagram page code for example.
How does it put you there?
You need traffic. Lots of traffic. So, create content that appeals to you.
In your virtual store, you can then enter the Google Adsense codes that will distribute the ads.
If you go to YouTube, you can monetize your channel with just a few clicks (provided you meet certain criteria).

3. Create an online affiliate company
Affiliation is the great unknown in online business. It is selling a product or service to another person to earn commission on sales. You are like an independent seller, but the Internet version.
Again, you have to start building an audience. And if possible, a specialized audience (in a particular niche, in a particular topic).
You will then promote products that may be of interest to your community, and send them to a link dedicated to remote selling. This dedicated link will allow the seller to calculate your score.
When I started affiliated, I had followed Emma’s little video course, which I recommend. You will find the link to register for free in the useful resources at the bottom of this article.
A word of advice: You can use affiliation from the start to create your audience. How ? Intervention between the seller and the customer.
4. Writing Sponsored Articles for E-Commerce Business
Last but not least, sponsored articles on websites (or sponsored posts if you’re on social networks).
What is it about? An advertiser (a brand) pays you to write content that promotes it.
You can do this by searching for companies that interest you directly, or by registering with networking platforms (such as Seeding Up or Victoria Talents).
This is a widely used method on Instagram, Snapchat or YouTube for example. If you are interested in this job, I recommend Magalie Berdah’s book on influence. It may seem light at first glance, but it gives very important information! The link is in the resources below the article.
Here again, you have to have an upstream niche audience. In fact, the price at which you sell sponsored content mainly depends on the number of people that content reaches. The larger and more specific your audience is, the higher your fee will be.
Personally, this is the method I like the most, because you are clearly selling your time for money. You are not taking advantage of the effect of leverage to create a profitable business. This business model limits you to the twenty-four hours you have in the day. It’s not my idea of e-commerce.

Note: (Private Web Store) Learning how to create a niche site and then manage its content to get good natural references from search engines is essential to creating an e-commerce store.
In fact, properly referring to your new merchant site with SEO is a marketing strategy that will bring unlimited potential customers to your ecommerce blog.
