Looking for tomorrow. In Le Havre, Hipli revolutionized the postal cardboard market

Customers of the French e-commerce leader have had the choice since the end of 2021 to use Hipli parcels for eligible products and have their orders delivered in packages with a much longer life cycle. Cdiscount tested the bags created by startup Le Havre with its employees and several thousand customers at the end of 2020 with positive feedback. “Hebley’s reusable bags are innovative. They protect the products very well and are of great quality,” says Pierre-Yves Escarbet, Cdiscount Deputy Director in charge of the supply chain.

In terms of image and environmental impact, the stakes are high because Cdiscount accounts for about 23 million packages in 2020. Obviously, it would not be possible to deliver a washing machine in Hipli packages. However, the small and medium-sized plastic envelopes (made in Bulgaria and Portugal) and small boxes offered by Le Havre are ideal for many products: cosmetics, women’s ready-to-wear, jewelry, children, toys, books … “Anything that’s not big Very,” sums up Anne-Sophie Raoult, Hipli’s co-founder with Léa Got.

Radical change in life

Fiat Lux end of 2019! The two friends are having coffee and are annoyed to receive bulky, single-use packets. 550 million parcels and 137,000 tons of waste in 2018 for France alone. 1.3 billion parcels in 2021 and 350 thousand tons of waste… Numbers [source : Ademe] Which makes you dizzy and seriously damage the planet.

By founding Hipli – with an H for Le Havre and a gentle nod to e-commerce, the two young women changed their lives too. Léa Got left her position as Director of Strategy in Artificial Intelligence and Anne-Sophie Raoult said goodbye to beer giant Carlsberg, which she was buying globally. They started in pairs, in the building of the business incubator Le Vaisseau, in the Eure district of Le Havre. Today, the team consists of six people and it is planned to double the number in 2022.

In discussion with Amazon

“We started in July 2020 with our concept of 100-use plastic bags,” recalls Anne-Sophie Raoult, who insists on the fact that Hipli is an influential company. “If we harm the planet, we harm our business,” she summarizes. Today, 30,000 Hipli parcels are traded each month with solid growth, especially since Cdiscount entered the loop.

That’s not all, the two women from Le Havre are having a discussion with the Private Showroom, Galeries Lafayette and have just started discussions with Amazon. “We at first, we talk to them … they find out. Anne Sophie doesn’t want to say more. An eloquent silence for those who know how ruthless the actions of the American tyrannical power founded by Jeff Bezos are.”

Currently, the two entrepreneurs are working on larger reusable packaging and expanding their client portfolio. Over 230 brands you already trust. Just like La Poste, who signed a partnership with Hipli at the end of October. The 130,000 mailboxes and 475 million parcels delivered should help move the Le Havre startup into an industrial dimension.

looking for tomorrow

Faced with the scale of the challenges we have to face, between the environmental crisis, social inequality and democratic tensions, it is more urgent than ever to look beyond what divides us to highlight what can bring us together. If inevitable changes in our ways of producing, consuming, living and living together inevitably shake our personal convictions and beliefs, they can also unite us around common interests.

On a daily basis, French men and women from all walks of life and from all walks of life are overcoming divisions and already working side by side to meet the social and environmental challenges of our lands. Citizens, local authorities and economic players participate, test and implement solutions that together map out a common goal: a world of tomorrow that can be more attuned to nature, more sustainable, more just and perhaps more general.

These initiatives, this cooperation must be able to grow and spread. This is why the newspapers of the EBRA Group (L’Est Républicain, Le Républicain Lorrain, Vosges Matin, Le Progrès, Le Bien Public, Le Journal de Saône et Loire, Le Dauphiné Libéré, Vaucluse Matin, L’Alsace, the latest news from Alsace), collaborated with Sparknews and 50 regional press titles to highlight those trying to bring the world of tomorrow out into our lands.
