Rennes SP: 2022 Rich in Innovation – Rennes Business School

Thirty years: the age of majority! At the end of 2021, the youngest of the major French management schools celebrated this anniversary with a series of innovations related to their programmes, research and support for their students. All of this tells the three pillars of the school which are its international, responsible and innovative dimensions.

An ever-growing multidisciplinary and hybrid dimension

The concept of “Unframed Thinking”, which is the motto of Rain SP, is closely related to skill hybridization. “To train tomorrow’s managers in a complex world, it is necessary to go beyond the management framework, in favor of largely open courses of societal innovation,” explains Elodie Horie, Director of the Great School Program (PGE). This is why students from their first year are invited to choose one of the three course colors that reflect one of the three main challenges of our organizations and societies: Major Community Leaflets: Environment, Geopolitics and Technology/Cybersecurity. Lessons imparted, in the second year, by Curiosity Packages, in geopolitics, artificial intelligence, data science, entrepreneurship, design, environmental innovation… The hybridization at Ren SP is also based on innovative partnerships. There are 44 majors that students in their final year can choose from. they can Head towards one of the 14 dual master’s degrees offered by the school, such as the Master in Creative Project Management, Culture and Design which opened with the École des Beaux-Arts de Bretagne or the Master of Innovation and Entrepreneurship, with Insa Reindeer. This year also marks the signing of a dual engineer-manager degree agreement with IMT Atlantique and Isen. As well as a double degree with the Institute of Comparative Philosophy.

This interdisciplinarity is also driven by an influential research policy, marked in March 2022 by the creation of the Center for Unframed Thinking (CUT), the world’s first institute for advanced studies based in the School of Business. CUT places in particular ecology, environmental sciences, energy and technology studies at the heart of its science programme. 2022 also saw the creation of the Rennes Métropole Chair “Operational Models and Artificial Intelligence for Disaster Management”, which was added to the two existing teaching chairs, in Geopolitics and Cyber Risk Management.

A boost in work and study thanks to the opening of the Paris campus

At the beginning of the 2021 academic year, Rennes SB opened a 1,500 square meter campus in the heart of the capital. Expansion doubles the offer of PGE work-study programs. “Through this campus, we will introduce three new professors of this nature: International Finance, Strategy and Digital Marketing, and Logistics and Supply Chain Management, with revised models for adopting a skills-based approach,” Elodie Horie defines. Courses to be added to the three courses already offered at Rain: Innovative Project Manager, Digital and Business Management, and Retail and Business Development. A new location that will also make life easier for work and study students, many of whom have contracts in the Paris region.

At the start of the 2022-2023 academic year, Rennes SB will offer a total of 850 work and study contracts, double what it was in 2020-2021. In PGE, this formula is possible from PGE2 to complete M1 and M2 alternately or in PGE3 only, following PGE2 in the classical format and the “company” gap year (optional). Rain SB is one of the only major schools of management that allows work and study students to complete a significant portion of this course abroad.

Cosmopolitan, at the heart of Rennes SB . DNA

An international dimension permeates the entire student experience at Rennes SB, a triple-accredited school by AACSB, AMBA, and EQUIS. All PGE students spend time abroad and 100% of their classes are in English at M1 and M2. More than half of its 5,000 students are international, while 95% of its 100 permanent professors are foreign.

This powerful multicultural experience offered to these on-site students is coupled with numerous opportunities for internships and academic exchange around the world, thanks to more than 360 partner universities. Among the 80 course options offered by PGE, students can pursue 11 double degrees abroad. “New this year: a new course in Limerick (Ireland), plus 11 new exchange agreements,” notes Elodie Horie. In the end, more than 60% of the 25,000 graduates of Rennes SB work in jobs related to the international world and a third are abroad. =

“The personal development of our students is at the heart of our concerns, especially in times after the outbreak.”

“In this coming year out of the health crisis, we pay special attention to the personal development of our students. First, by encouraging them, more than ever, to engage or re-engage in community life. On campus, we have set up clubs like He for She, for equality Gender, or Alumni, aims to increase interaction between current and former students. Through our service-learning system, students can now choose to participate in one or more local associations. At the same time, we have strengthened support for students through the “Feel” scheme Our Good.” Three people dedicated to the well-being of students implement actions targeting those with psychosocial difficulties, but also more generally (prevention campaigns against harassment, sexism, etc.). To maximize inclusion, we have increased the volume of scholarships and strengthening our educator reference teams.explains Elodie Huré, Director of PGE.
